This 26-week trial examines if low dose empagliflozin (2.5 mg/day) alongside automated insulin delivery (AID) enhances glucose control in type 1 diabetes patients not meeting target range (3.9-10.0 mmol/l) when compared to placebo. Participants must be on AID (also called hybrid closed loop) before the study and they will receive either empagliflozin or a placebo during the trial. The study includes 3 in-person visits with bloodwork and multiple phone safety check-ins over 6 months period.
